Land reform key to ending 50-year old conflict in Colombia

Negotiations between the government of Colombia and the largest insurgent group in the country, the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, began in Oslo on Oct. 17. In a New York Times piece co-authored by Michael Albertus, an assistant professor of political science at the University of Chicago and a 2011-2012 post-doctoral fellow at CDDRL, the authors argue that land reform is central to ending the 50-year conflict and bringing peace to the country.
